Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Ok so It's Friday and I haven't even listened to it yet and I'm already started to cry. so well I'm sure it will be great but . . . sniff. . . It's hard. . . blow nose. . . to realize this is it.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Right with you there Katarina. As soon as I saw this post tears came.
I have promised myself I won't cry, so that when I do cry tonight, I can truthfully say, "I promised myself I wouldn't cry." :D

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

I'm trying not to think about DGL being over. I know the episode tonight is the last one, but it is one more thing that my brain will not wrap around. I don't know if I will ever be able to accept it. DGL has been a HUGE part of my life these last nine years and I will miss not having new episodes to look forward to.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Great episode!!! Very different from what I was thinking it would be like. I was thinking more along the lines of 6-12 "Blessed Are They." Every single person who wanted Brooke to marry Luke should be dancing for joy right now, not to mention those who wanted Michael to marry Mia. The episode does leave me curious about the road leading up to Mia and Michael's wedding. Another disappointment is no light was shed on Tiffany except that she disappeared, I was hoping for a little more detail. Aside from that, another wonderful episode Lori!! 5/5

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Ok, its 11:48, and since where I live, I have to wait till Saturday for the episode, I listen on HisKids at 12 am. So I am counting the minutes. Oh, and believe me, I am REALLY trying to not read Laurie's comment.
9 minutes...5 minutes...*taps foot impatiently* 2 minutes...1 minute...5...4...3...2...1...REFRESH!!
Oh man, here we go! This is like sitting on the Stormrunner, waiting for it to shot off.

Aww...I love weddings too. THEY'RE MEN?? WHO ARE? *Gulp* YOU DID NOT!!! YOU SKIPPED CALEB AND CARRIE'S WEDDING!!! WHY?!?! YOU SKIPPED 10 YEARS INTO THE FUTURE!?!?!
I DO NOT RECALL YOU ASKING US IF YOU COULD DO THAT!

Are you kidding? Wait...is this...oh ok. I thought mystery....WHAT!?! LUKE!?! AND BROOKE!?! HOW COULD YOU SKIP THAT....KIDS!!!
Wow, Hope is like 16 now, right?
Aww...Grace. Haha. Seven kids. Aunt Haley. His mom...so cryptic....ooo...you're good.
Haha, Uncle Tim. OH NO!! Permanent marker for make-up...oh no.
Oh, so Tim did get into flying. Now, I want to cry. I haven't heard some of these voices in so long. This is so funny. You guys aren't letting...FOOTBALL GAME??? MIKE??? MIKE!! He's getting married!!
But I'm guessing its not to Anna, cause you're pushing that...okay, I'll admit, I was bad, I peaked.
But at least he's a coach, not an accountant.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Maya Morrison. *cries*
I do think it was a bit obvious that the Morrisons and Richters would become family. After ten years, Peace of Heaven's campus is still up? Wait...oh good, Justin and Becca.
Oh man...I am really weeping now.
Yeah, they are all praying. Watch it be everyone at the same time. Yes, Tiffany. (I smell spin-off) Aww...Monica praying, now strong in her faith. Yes, everyone praying at the same time. So this really ends it all, doesn't? I am loving this prayer scene.
Wow, you ended it with a similar style of audio montage as you did in 1-1. And now 12-13. AMEN! I love that. Everyone...saying...Amen. I just got goosebumps....okay, as you all know, I promised I wouldn't cry. (scroll up)

THIS WAS PERFECT!!

You know what, I was afraid I'd be disappointed, and in a way, at the beginning I was. But now. Oh, this is so great. This is better then I ever could have hoped it would be.
Yes Thank God for an awesome series. You all have done an absolutely remarkable job. I think rating this episode would just ruin the mood, but I'm sure you know how I felt about it.
Well done Lori, Steve, everyone! Thanks for making this the first series finale that has satisfied me. Such perfect closure. I'm going to miss hearing all the voices of the actors and actresses, wow. It still feels unreal that after 175/6 episodes of DGL, its over. :'(
Well, for perhaps the last time: This is Renddslow, signing off.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

That was the best EVER ending. I'm listening to this episode for the second time, and I'm just lovin' the way it's all coming together. My new ambition in life is to collect all 12 seasons on CD! Apart from that, I just can't think of anything else to say. Just a BIG thank you to every one involved in producing DGL.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Well, 12-13, "And So It Goes...." That was it. The last time we visited Coleraine. It was a revealing trip to the warm-hearted small town, that's for sure.

So many unanswered questions were tied up, especially in regards to who marries who. The marriage of Ben and Janet was easily predicted, but the marriages of Brooke and Luke, Justin and Becca, and Maya and Mikey weren't so set in stone. Those particular unions were exactly what most fans were hoping for, and I was most excited that Luke and Brooke got married (I mean, if there's one thing that's been hinted at since the very beginning it's that those two are the perfect fit!). Caleb and Carrie were nice to hear together, although I felt they had the role of filling the listener in on a lot of expositional material.

I'm sure glad that we got to hear from Grace one last time, and doing what I remember her best for: interacting with children and building into the next generation. Oh, and telling a story! She also had a really nice prayer, and I'm glad that she was one of the few characters that hadn't gotten married! I like the stability of Grace still being at the end of Gilead Lane, always ready for a child to come down and ask questions.

A major thing which bothered me was the absence, at least vocally, of Becca and Luke. This was particularly concerning in regards to Luke. A few days ago I commented that Luke would have (emphasis on the word have) to be in the last show, reasoning that since he was in the first show and since he was such an important character throughout the series that we would hear a few words from him in 12-13. So I definitely was disappointed that we didn't get to hear him with Brooke one last time. Maybe Andrew Mueller wasn't available for recording, but taking lines from another show or recording him separately would've sufficed for me.

The one thing that perhaps is my biggest "problem" with this episode is that it doesn't have much of a storyline--there's very little conflict (the major conflict--the possibility of Mike being late for his own wedding--was resolved before the half-way break), nor was it that clear to me where it was heading. However, I understand that this is the listener's privilege of hearing from all the main characters before Zach really does give his last closing wrap, so I suppose that pardons the lack of story. ;-)

I was glad that ten years on Tiffany is still the "lost sheep" of Coleraine. I guess that means that we as listeners don't really get a satisfactory closure on her storyline, but that's sometimes how things happen in life. It is saddening that the Richters don't even know where she is or what she is doing, and Monica's prayer showed how hard it is for a parent to deal with a son or daughter who is a prodigal. I'm sure that many listeners will be dissatisfied with this aspect of the show--that Tiffany hasn't been saved nor is back in Coleraine--, but I thought it was what should have logically been expected.

Honestly, I have no idea what rating I should give this show...it was pretty satisfying, I guess, but it was definitely more of an epilogue than a normal show. Let's say 4/5 on first listen.

I could probably ramble on for twice as long about this episode--I haven't even touched on John and Mary, the actor's attempts at sounding and acting ten years older, the music, the prayers, what was not tied up. There's a whole lot more I could say about this show! But I'll let Daniel write his epic and cover all the stuff I left out. ;-)

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Hmm...Its kind of what I expected in terms of giving that clear message all things work together for the good of those....that are called by God according to his purpose. Everybody grew and matured both physically and spiritually progress has been made, even though there was that echo of 'O little Town of Collerain', I did find myself thinking it would be Hope waking up and finding it all to be a dream. But what else could you do? All great shows/books/films/TV series and franchises have their little enigma's, that not knowing what would happen after the credits role i guess for DGL it will be that Tiffany is out there somewhere doing somthing and not part of the happy ever after. However, the central of DGL about a family built on the foundation of Christ dealing with the normal day to day test and trials that help them 'work out their salvation'. I heard that little pause of 'you may be on to something' during podcast 44 when you read out my comments, Laurie were you hinting at something?

Great show, guys! I confess I have listend to it before my kids, just to prepare myself for any questions from them. I am so glad you are going to be running the series from episode 1:1 onwards I can compare the differences to the online edit and the mp3s.

God Bless you both once again, the best is yet to come!

Oops! Sorry Lori that I spelt your name wrong -- I saw the previous name entry and automatically typed it. One question? whenever I have heard the podcast I always hear the keyboard clacking away in the background, I figure that is not Steve surfing the keys, but its superfast fingers typing, but what are you typing?

Just curious is all. Blessings to you!(or do you say y'all in san antonio? I dont know I'm a Brit!)

And So It's Gone

And So It's Gone: General Thoughts on S12 and DGL

Season 12 was a very good season--my favorite since S8 or maybe even S6. It really captivated me and was well-written by both Lori and John, having a good blend of excitement as the Piece of Heaven saga sped to a close and of slice-of-life. I especially appreciated that it seemed to be aimed at an older audience, with only the occasional show with Hope and Tim. The several episodes with Caleb and Carrie were a perfect example of that: well-handed shows about purity and dealing with relationships. But the writers had a careful balance in this season so that romance didn't rule every episode of S12, but neither did intensity. The only show from S12 which I didn't go for was 12-1; most of the other shows were quite memorable.

Favorite Episode: 12-5 "Respect the French Toast" and 12-11 "Saving Messages" (tie)
Least Favorite Episode: 12-1 "A Hope by Any Other Name"

It's sad that DGL has ended when it seems that the stories are just beginning. IMO, S12 injected new life into DGL by furthering storylines and characters out of necessity rather than just letting them dawdle along as I feel that some of the recent seasons have been guilty of doing. Although 12-12 and 12-13 did give us some much-needed answers, questions remain. Not necessarily big questions, but questions about Coleraine, the Morrisons, and the Richters. Loose ends which have been overlooked.

However, I understand that DGL can't go on forever, and DGL has provided us with many memorable moments: I love going back to listen to "The Lonely Ranger" or exploring the dynamics and messages of S5. I'm going to miss these characters I have grown to know and love, especially the Morrisons. It's rare to find a radio or television show which shows a family changing over a period of years or shows such a relationship between a husband and wife like we see in John and Mary. I so don't want to stop visiting Coleraine and these people so close to real life, but I guess there's always the old shows to go back and rediscover. That is some consolation.

Bye Morrisons! Bye Gilead Lane! Bye Coleraine! It's been such a blessing to visit you each week. :-)

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

great episode. tears, coming out. I wish we heard from Tiffany I wanted her to become a christian! I always thought it was Keri and Calabe that were going to be married, but Maya and Michael. Maya and Michael were friends the beginning of Season 2. I still can't forget Oh Little Town of Colleraine because some of it did not come true. I was glad to hear from Grace again. I liked the part when Monica is praying and all the prayers that followed! It has been a great journey to follow. Great Series!

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Two more things:
(now that I'm over my sadness....somewhat)
WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE VOICE OF BECCA??

Also, I did think it was a low blow to all of us Michael/Anna fans to have Anna be the Maid of Honor.

Other then that, it was a good episode. Everyone married the right person....I suppose.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

I was wondering why it was 10 years later.
So that was the very last episode of Down Gilead Lane. No more will ever be done?? I am disappointed. I have thoroughly enjoyed the show.

I would hope that it would continue. I think it could stand the test of time and go on for years and years. It's hard with actors growing up and moving on. very sad it is ending. Maybe you all with change your minds and continue it. Or shift the focus on one of the kids lives rather than the parents (not that they wouldn't be in it. but).

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

The first part I was like screaming with happiness. The 10 year jump was a great idea. The characters turned out so much like I wanted them to. Brooke (my favorite character of all times) married to Luke with kids in Peru, Justin married to Bekka and a super secret rocket scientist(how awsome and fun to say), Mike a football coach (how perfect) and married to Mia (finally), Haley a fashion designer (how Haley), Tim an airforce pilot with a girlfriend that his parents like (Great), and Hope in High School!!!! Wow Lori I just LOVE this episode. I like how you kept us in suspence and made us really listen to understand what had happened over the years. But, when everyone started praying (sniff) I just started weeping. I can't think of a better way to end the series. I loved the AMEN. I think I have to agree with Dave on the Tiffany issue. I was sorry for her and her family and friends. But that is how life is sometimes. So THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS EPISODE. Bye

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Okay...so I thought last week's episode was the final one, so I was getting all teary-eyed then....I was sad it was "over" but I thought I'd come back to the site...out of habit, and to see if there were any other episodes playing or something...and there it is!! What is that? Oh my!! Another episode!!! Hmm..it says someone's getting married? That HAS to be Caleb and Carrie!!! Oh wait...they're already married?! NINE years ago!! Wow! Then who's getting married? Maybe Justin? Or Brooke? Brooke is married to LUKE! :D:D:D Okay..so then it must be Justin..and Becca? No! Is Anna the bride?! ANNA AND MIKE ARE GETTING MARRIED! Awww! Justin and Becca were already married! Ooh, and tim's got a girlfriend.....Aww...now it's the wedding...:D:D WHAT?! DID HE JUST SAY MIKE AND MAYA!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D Hahah..that was tricky! I was thinking it was Anna and Mike the whole time!! But Maya...LOVE THAT!
Ooooh...so that was good...and just hearing about how all of the kids(well...they're not kids anymore...) are doing...and it was REAL this time, instead of just one of Tim's dreams in the Cohleraine Christmas episode......and putting it in the future helped it bring closure.....though I wish we could've heard from Tiffany...it's been 9 years and and we don't know where she is or how she's doing! :(

Oh yeah...in the beginning, after we found out Caleb and Carrie were already married, I thought it might be Haleigh's wedding because...remember in the beginning of season 9(i think) when Zach went in the time machine, but he fast-forwarded too much and ended up at Haleigh's wedding? haha...I thought this episode was going to be that....

But anyway, great epidose...AMAZING RADIO-DRAMA-SHOW that I'm sooo sad is ending...but thank you all soooooooooooooooooooooo much for putting so much work in to it....we appreciate you all sooo much!!! God Bless!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the show. I have listened from the beginning and fun to hear everyone grow up. It is very sad the the program will be ending.
I would hope that they would change their minds on ending the program and just take a sabbatical for a season to figure out a new direction for it.
this is a show that should pass the test of time and be able to continue for a very long time...

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

- Tear - Okay so I liked this episode, but I was quite a bit confused up until about 15 min. into it.. I also was surprised that noone said where Tiffany was at.. which I know she's disappeared, but I figured SOMEONE would know.. I'm dying to know though, is there a new series starting about Tifany and the new thing that Monica's putting up on the Piece ( Peace ) Of Heaven campus?
Sorry, this review was a little jumbled up..
Thanks again to hiskids, for without them, I would have missed it again...
I give this episode a 4.5/5 (only because I was mixed up through the whole episode and I was hoping for a more dramatic ending )
Thanks again for the great episode!!!!

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Split emotions here. Good show. I thought it was good how you moved ahead 10 years and showed us how it would be. At the same tiime, I was disappointed about the Carrie and Luke marriage. I agree with Renddslow. We spent the season building the relationship and engagement, then the wedding was skipped. Overall, I enjoyed the episode.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TOUCHDOWN MICHAEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD ... now that that's off my chest :)

Wow, my predictions were suprisingly accurate! :D Brooke's doing missionary work, Justin's a "super secret rocket scientist," Mike married Maya (WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!), and Tim's in the Air Force! :) I guess it's been obvious that Haley would do something in fashion, but like Justin said in his prayer at the end, it is hard to share faith in the fashion world. I'm glad she ended up there, she'll do well and be able to share her faith. ^_^ I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy with how everything turned out! ^o^

I think Tiffany's situation was handled well. It's sad that she's still gone, but I was so happy hearing everyone praying for her. Even after what she did, it's clear that they still love her and think about her. It's out of their hands, but she'll always be in God's hands.

The mass prayer at the end was so touching. I loved hearing everyone's voices one last time. Thinking back to the beginning, it's so amazing to hear Monica praying, pouring out her sorrows and joys to her God. And all the Morrison and Richter kids praying for one another in their work and relationships. Hope's prayer was especially moving for me. I can't imagine where she would be now if the Morrisons hadn't taken her in that Easter weekend. She's become one of my favorites these past couple years, and I was so happy to hear her joy at being placed in such a loving family. I don't think it could have been handled any better.

I'm going to miss hearing DGL every weekend. It's been an amazing journey! Thank you all for your hard work through the years!!! <3
(time to go order the complete series! ^_^ )

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes.... (Another Season? PLEASE!)

I had a thought for one last season, even half a season. It would bridge the gap between 12-12 and 12-13. Since in many ways, a lot of the marriages (well, Brooke's and Michael's) We never got to see the love blossom between those two couples, especially since I'm sure I'm not the only Michael/Anna fan.
In many ways it didn't feel like there was enough of a transition. Perhaps...OH!! Here's an awesome idea! Season 13 (or 12 1/2) would all be during Christmas. Each episode would be another year. And we would see the changes in each of the characters, and their relationships.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

I just absolutely loved this episode. 10/10. If there was a perfect episode this would be it. It made me so happy. As I was working a few days ago I listened to S1 and I was listening to Mikey say how much he hated Maya, and now he ended up marrying her. The change that's happened since S1 is so extreme.

While I listened I wasn't sure if this was a dream like in that one Christmas episode "O Little Town of Coleraine". Until the end I wasn't completely sure, but I was happy that it was real. I knew that Justin liked Rebecca. I just loved hearing how the future for all of them would be. Haley was serious about getting into the fashion industry when she was in 4th grade and she actually made it! It was exciting, and I liked how it said that she was a witness in her environment. This just was a great final episode of DGL and I loved it!

DGL makes me happy. This ending made me not even that sad that it's the end.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes.... (On the Podcast)

Wow, I'm posting in this one A LOT! Great podcast. I don't really mind that you did an abbreviated, since you really did spoil us with the every week thing since 12-10 or so.
Have a great holiday, and I can't wait to hear from you all again.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

This was the best DGL episode ever. I loved the wedding, and I really loved how you ended the show with everyone praying...it was sort of sad though. Great writing, directing, acting, and sound design, in fact this show is perfect, except for the fact that I would have liked to hear from Tiffany. Thank you CBH, and thank you God for Down Gilead Lane!

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

First I will say that I am soooo sad it's over. Next I will say that I was very confused for the first 15 minutes or so... I was expecting the wedding to be Caleb and Carrie's only to find that they've been married NINE years! Very glad that Brooke and Luke ended up together--though I had a feeling they would.

This episode felt very rushed, which I didn't really like... and I wished it would've had a little more conflict... and I am so bummed we didn't get to hear how the Mike-Maya story played out. Though I am glad they ended up together too.

I am feeling really old, when I heard the part about Timmy being in the air force and having a girlfriend he felt was "The one" thinking back to season one...

Wished we would've heard from tiffany as well-- nine years is a long time for someone to be missing. It was a little disappointing.

3/5 Stars.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

VERY FINAL EPISODE! GREAT WAY TO END THE SERIES!
It is very sad though that Tiffany has dissappeared. I didn't listen to the episode until after the podcast came out so it was very had not to ruin myself and listen to it!

Infinity x 10,000,000,000,000 / 5 stars is my review!

P.S. Who wrote this Episode???????????

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

And so it goes... the final eppisode of DGL, *cries*

Honestly, I have mixed emotions about this eppisode. On one hand, I don't really like the 9-year jump into the future because I think everything should have wrapped up with Caleb and Carrie's wedding. It just didn't seem real to me. However, it was cool to see who everyone ends up marrying, and it does bring things to a close. I wish that there would've been more from Monica in this eppisode. I haven't listened to the retale version as of yet, so may be there is more of her in there.

As everyone else has said, the prayer scenes at the end were absolutely awesome! As soon as I heard the round of amens, I started crying! My rating is 4/5 because of my mixed feelings regarding the jump to the future. Still a great eppisode... don't think DGL has ever had a truly bad eppisode, though there are some I like more than others of course.

There are not enough words to even begin to adequately express my love for DGL and all involved over the years! I have listened almost since the beginning, and DGL has taught me some great lessons in faith! I have loved the characters and have enjoyed all of the great DGL moments over the years!

Blessings and hugs to you all,

Sam

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Life gets crazy and thus this is my first opportunity to review this show. I'm glad I didn't as I loved the podcast yesterday but am glad that all my comments will have to wait 'til the real bigger one to be read! ;) And thanks, Dave! I'll do my best to try and cover everything...

Wow, it is with many tears and deep sadness that I write my final review for a show that has been such a big part of my life and so close to my heart for the last eight (almost nine) years. With all the many new characters and storylines that have occurred through the seasons, there is a lot banking on the season finale. I was a little disappointed with some things but overall, this was a fantastic ending to an incredible radio drama!

From the sounds of things the last few weeks, the series finale of Gilead was going to take place at the current time period that the season had. I was very surprised when the episode started and we soon found out it wasn't Caleb and Carrie getting married...they already were! The first few scenes seemed a lot like 'O Little Town of Coleraine' and I kept waiting for someone to wake up again and for it to be back in the current time. I was pleasantly surprised in many ways that we had the privilege of hearing everything years down the road with grandkids, nieces and nephews for John and Mary. The scenes with Caleb and Carrie talking about Michael and Maya's upcoming wedding and their years of marriage so far were precious and really still reflected the wonderful things we heard in their relationship earlier this season leading up to the proposal. I was a little disappointed that because things were building up to their wedding immensely (especially since we hadn't heard from Carrie in the past three episodes), that the episode was revolving around Mike and Maya's wedding and not Caleb and Carrie's. Although with that time having past, it did allow for us to see all the perfect match-ups that happened including Luke and Brooke, Justin and Becca, and Ben and Janet. Interesting how Luke and Becca who are siblings married Brooke and Justin who are siblings!! I do agree with Dave that it was disappointing not to be able to hear from Luke, since he has been such an integral character of the series from S1, however I understand how happened from this weekend's podcast. Actually, I was also disappointed that more from Ben couldn't have been worked in rather than just a one-liner but realize there isn't time for everything in the episode and with everything else added, something else would have had to go.

I also really liked hearing from Grace once again and having her continue her role as the experienced mentor and babysitter from the beginning. The make-up scene was hilarious when she found out it was permanent marker! She may be a good storyteller, role model and many other things but the aspects of 'quiet trouble' as mentioned on the episode she can't supervise no matter how hard she tries! Very neat though to hear her interactions with the little Richters and Morrisons as we got to briefly hear their voices and know their characters.

I must say it was quite amusing to hear all the actors/actresses trying to age their characters. In many respects, that was already done for them in the style that Lori wrote but in some ways it did require a little more 'acting' in maturing the voice, which did happen the odd time but mostly, it was still normal sounding. In a sense, I liked that though as if more voices would have been recast, it would have taken more time for the listener to get used to a different voice in just one episode, and would have taken away from hearing everyone play our beloved characters like they have done so well for many years. It was neat to hear MacKenzie just use her normal voice more or less (since we heard her once in an interview on the podcast) and that did add a great effect still sounding like Hope, but older without having to make her voice sound younger and childish.

It was great hearing all the many conversations that went on and how the wedding brought everyone together again (even if it was just in the nick of time). That was good to see as so often nowadays, people can skip weddings if they're busy and have other things going on but will completely go out of their way to make it to someone's funeral. Weddings should be just as much of a family uniting time as a funeral is if not more, so that was great to hear here. It was interesting hearing what everyone is doing now these nine years later including Brooke and Luke at the orphanage in Peru, Haley modelling in a Christian setting, Tim being in the air force, Justin working for the government among other things. You can't help but wonder though how all these things came to be. I know...you should totally have a Season 13 that fills in all the gaps between 12-12 and 12-13!! You know kind of like the Lion King 1 1/2 that came out AFTER 1 and 2!! You would already have a starting and an ending point for where you want to go and we have nine years more stuff to catch up on!! Which would actually mean it would be more than a Season 13 since sometimes a season can only cover a few months! Aren't I just so smart? :D

It was also wonderful to have some classic John and Mary material. The tender moments, humour and all!! Especially hearing them both (especially Mary) having to release another one of their kids into marriage and raising their own family and all the conversations, tears and laughs that come with that. Great to hear more of it but bringing some more closure.

It's episodes like this that hearing both the retail version and the broadcast version really put things in perspective about how hard it must be to cut down into the 24:30 requirement. I agree with Dave that there really wasn't a major conflict in the broadcast version other than the conflict with Mike's flight but there is a really good deleted scene in the retail version with Becca and her catering business. The cake gets all over Anna's dress with a few moments of fright before Haley quickly fixes it with her many fashion, modeling skills. There are also many others, which all add so much to the show. That is awesome that all the full versions of the shows made it onto the album with the exception of one...sure hope it wasn't this one! In many senses, this really did feel like an epilogue rather than a regular episode with a lesson at the end and what not. That just made it all the more of a tear jerker knowing that this was really it -- the end of DGL! :(

I loved the new voice of Becca and thought she fit really well with the old. That is so cool that they are sisters as mentioned on the most recent podcast! Even though she did it on spontaneous notice, she must have had prior acting experience to pull it off so well. Too bad though that with this being the final episode of DGL, she wasn't able to make a final appearance...

This episode really did a good job at tying up most storylines or at least making us feel like most of them were. I really would have appreciated hearing a little more from Ben and Janet with maybe some things at the store, more of Jessica and Haley to see if she actually ever did accept Christ, possibly Hope opening the letter, why the Peace of Heaven campus is still unoccupied after all these years (although I am delighted that it may become some kind of an orphanage), among other things. I realize however that we would never be perfectly satisfied and with the end being set in stone for now, Lori and John did the most with what they had to work with.

I really liked the warm, family feel of this episode with everyone coming home and all the many classic interactions and conversations that brought. Everyone coming home for the wedding and then later, having them all depart to go back to their various homes/jobs, which marked the beginning of the prayer scene. I do have to say that although I have had many favourite scenes over the years, this hands down, was a huge tearjerker and my favourite scene ever in the history of DGL. I loved how we built into it with brief separate conversations, which led into everyone's prayers. I really started crying when Hope was praying with her precious adopted parents, the Morrisons and how you can hear how Hope has matured into a wonderful, godly young lady who is so thankful for bring John and Mary and her many siblings, nieces and nephews into their life and they in turn pour out thanks to God for her as well. It was also very fitting how this was book ending the series with Mary emotional and struggling with only one kid left in the house after them all having moved away and getting married in addition to her struggling at the beginning of the series with all her kids having left to go to school. It was very powerful having all these couples pray together and having that woven together into an incredible scene. It is very significant that it seems no one has heard anything with Tiffany for almost a decade since we heard her ran away with Randy and how Monica (and others) continue to pray for her with that being all they can do. Sometimes we are asking God why a certain thing has happened and we can do nothing but pray and leave it in His sovereign hands. It was very fitting that instead of having it be a total happy ending that there is one rebel who may continue to run from Jesus for decades and we just have to accept that but to always continue to pray. I loved how they all prayed for one another including the continued healing of Monica's heart, the next steps in Tim and Erin's relationship, as well as more general requests that they (we) would all continue to be a shining, burning light for our Lord in this world. And such a moving way to move the series with everyone saying 'amen' with no closing 'lesson' comments from Zach since that was the perfect ending and rolling straight into the acting credits of these amazing individuals that have devoted their time and energy to producing this Christ-centered drama. The music was fabulous and perfectly tied everything together especially at the very end how the theme segued into that beautiful orchestral final chord, which is hard to listen to as I continue to realize that is really the end.

5/5 stars on this show of course, Lori! And I can not give a rating to how much I have enjoyed this show over the last nine years. It has become such a big part of my week and life and I am truly grieved to see it go. IMHO, there is no other radio drama that has or ever will exist with such humour, precious scenes, solid lessons and just relevant to everyday life. A BROBDINGNAGIAN thanks to everyone who has been involved in bringing us Gilead in any way. May God truly bless you for your efforts for all the lives that have been inspired, changed, challenged and deeply blessed. This will continue to reach many and you are storing up eternal treasures in heaven for your selfless dedication to this project. Can't wait to see what's next! :)

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

THIS WAS THE BEST EPISODE EVER IN THE HISTORY OF DOWN GILEAD LANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like season 12 is the best season ever of Down Gilead Lane. I was really happy that Mike got married to Mia, and Haley being a fashion designer is perfect:) But i did wish we could have heard Caleb and Carrie's wedding. Awww this is so sweet. Hope praying with her mom and dad.... Wow all of them saying amen at the same time.... it makes me wanna cry.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

When Carrie said "I can't believe we've been married for 9 years already" and Caleb said, "Yes, and 10 years since dad died," I was like, *I* can't believe it either! It was just last week!!!! :-)

Great ending. I agree with Dave on Tiffany.

It was great to hear how they were 10 years later.

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

As you might guess, as I was writing my previous comment I was a little rushed for time. I so did not do this episode justice. After listening to this episode 3 times (and I plan to listen to it again), its finally sunk in that this IS the last episode of DGL. sob! I never realized how much DGL meant to me! I had hoped that we might get a 'from the future' episode, it was great to see how everything wrapped up. I think it was evident that we wouldn't be hearing from Tiffany for a while, so I'm not as sad about that as others are. I loved the last bit, that was were I wanted to fetch the tissue box. It was good to hear from Grace, I think she could be one of my favorite actors, shame we didn't get to hear her story about Tim :) It was just so perfect! Sigh.
I glad we will still get a chance to listen to the first episodes again, as I only started listening at season 8 i think.
100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, and more out of five!

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

I loved the episode but like everyone I am sad to see it end. Since I didn't start listening until the last couple of years, I think it would be great if you could start the series over and re-broadcast starting at Season 1. Whatever you do, I wish you all the best and God bless!

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

okay so this eppisode grew on me upon second and third listen. It definitely brought closure, but I'm just not used to the fact that there will be no more new eppisodes of Gilead in the future. God bless you all!:)

Re: 12-13...And So It Goes....

Hey Steve and Lorie. I just absolutely loved this episode. I have downloaded it from hiskids and I listen to it offten. I really wish that you could have brought Tiffany in to the show one last time. She is my favorite character, so it would have been great to hear from her. I was very happy with all of the marrages. I am really going to miss DGL. Hey, here's a thought. Maybe, you could do a series that tells the story of the next generation of Morison/Rickter kids. Just as a thought. Well, great show. 5 billion stars out of 5

It’s Spring Break, and the Morrisons are headed to Washington, D.C. They’re all super excited about the things they’ll get to see and do there—all of them, that is, except Brooke. She thinks it’s selfish of them to go on a fun-filled vacation when other people are giving their week to serve on a mission field.

But wait a minute, Brooke. Aren’t we supposed to be missionaries wherever we go?

Brooke had a change of heart when she and her family have a surprising encounter on the plane to D.C.
