Re: 12-9 - review it here....

(Again, sorry for rambley-ness, its 12 am, bit tired)
First off, let me show off my Gilead knowledge by saying that the car sound was the same as the washer exploding (just less loud, and possibly dropped a semitone?) in 2-2 (? I'm probably wrong about the episode number, but worth a shot)
Nice commercial Steve. (the camp-beyond-key one)
Oh, I have expected Freddy to pick them up. And I have noticed that Monica is lightening up, like Tom did in late season 6 and season 7. Way to go Caleb. He saved them a ton of money by making peace. (An issue he struggled with back in late season 6) He's really stepping up and becoming the man of the family.
lf I were a betting man, I'd wager she becomes a Christian in this episode or the next. I liked the conversation Caleb and Monica had in the garage. Its the first time I believe she has really been witnessed to. (sorry for ending in a preposition)
Well, at least she'll remember his proposal. Watch her say no...*waits*...obviously I was kidding. I'm so happy! No you guys better make it up and have an AMAZING wedding.
Good, she's going to testify. Oh no, Agent Ditman...oh no! She's under arrest. AGAIN!
Wow, this was a crazy episode! (In a good way, of course) Was this on the same day as he talked to Mr. {insert Carrie's Last Name}
Another great episode Lori, and of course, I give this one a 5 out of 5.
You know what, strike that, since you finally had a dating relationship on DGL that will end in marriage, I'm giving this a 7 out of 5 stars (since 7 is God's perfect number, and this was a perfect episode.)

Re: 12-9 - review it here....

I just listened to this eppisode two times in a row- awesome!:)

It was good to hear Monica and Caleb having some intimate moments. We've never really seen that before between them, and I'm so glad that Caleb finally got the chance to propose to Carrie- and with his mother's blessing and knowing that Tom would have been thrilled as well! Even though it was in a mechanic's garage, I'm so glad he finally got to do it! Monica arrested again... oh noooooo!!!! Talk about bad timing- right from happy moment to sad moment. I'm glad that Caleb was able to be there for his mom and family. It's obvious, even though he made mistakes, that he wants to honor God by loving his family.

I wonder what will happen to Monica- she's not quite ready to let go just yet. Hopefully, she will accept Christ and give Him control. I hope she does so with the understanding that her problems will not magically disappear, but like Caleb, she will have a perfect peace in the midst of problems and termoil.

Great show-- infinite amount of stars out of five!:):):)

Re: 12-9 - review it here....

Poor Richters. I'm really glad Carrie came along though. It was really a blessing for everyone. I was excited to hear Monica asking questions about God. Those Mother son talks were great. I thought it was hilarious with Tiffany. She really knows how to spoil touching moments. And poor Will he tried so hard and Monica just wasn't listening. So she got herself arrested again and now she will be in jail forever. Great. (sarcasticly) Oh and whoever wrote the engagement scene is really romantic those words were perfect even though the place well, wasn't.

Re: 12-9 - review it here....

Wow! What a episode! I can't believe Monica got herself arrested again! And just after she was talking about being a better Mom, and doing what's best for her family.
And Caleb just can't seem to find the right moment to propose to Carrie. But I'm so glad he finally just proposes! I thought it was so funny when Tiffany says 'Oh joy. She has no idea what she's in for'! My sisters I just cacked up! Thanks for another great episode.
21,000 of of five stars (as my little brother would say!)

Re: 12-9 - review it here....

wow monica in jail again I was not expecting that AT ALL!!!!! I was so happy when caleb proposed to carrie!!! i wonder why tiffaniy(is that how you spell it not sure!) maybe to talk to Randy ?!? monica was really starting to wonder what is right I really kind of hope that being in jail AGAIN will help her learn that god is the only way!!! my favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11 for I know the plans I have for you plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hopean a future. I know that god dose have a plan for monica even though she dosen't belive it herself!!! if you haven't already heard my favorite verse you should check it out my mom showed it to me when i was 9 years old. that verse has helped me in so many ways.

Re: 12-9 - review it here....

I'm so glad that Caleb finally got to propose! The scene where he proposed was another great Caleb and Carrie scene. For me, that was the most important thing that happened in 12-9, although Monica being arrested again will surely have some consequences in the next few episodes.

I liked that all of the actors performed well. Occasionally with DGL I find myself distracted from the story or dialog because the actor might not have the experience to be completely believable, but that did not happen with this show. It was easy to get into the story as Joyce Bean and Bryce Barfenbarger (and the others) are such great actors.

I really "liked" Tiffany's character in this episode, although she was really mean! I literally laughed out loud at Tiff singing that cheesy song "like a cat being strangled in a rainstorm" and her hysterics when the car broke down. It also seemed like Tiffany and Monica's previously close relationship isn't so strong anymore.

4/5--I felt like, at least for the first fifteen or twenty minutes, that this show had almost a "slice-of-life" feel without too much intensity (which was great). It loved hearing the five main characters (the Richters and Carrie) interacting with one another--I felt sorry for Caleb, laughed at Tiff, and despaired at Monica! A really good show, although it is a pity that the Morrisons haven't been around much in the last four or five episodes.

I'm thinking that Monica is going to become a Christian in "The Journey Home" (next week's episode), as Steve and Lori did mention on the podcast that this was a special show. But HOW will she be brought to that point of surrender???

Re: 12-9 - review it here....

YES, YES, YES!! What an INCREDIBLE show! Definitely one of my favourites of the season and possibly in the series!! This episode had everything...humour, excitement, suspense, romance, action and a wonderful lesson!! I must say I think I have done a fairly good job of shortening my reviews (or maybe better coined play by play 'analyzes', the past few weeks but with jam-packed episodes like this, just have to let it all come out again no matter what the length, so grab an iced tea or cup of hot chocolate (depending on what the weather's like outside where you live), do enjoy and read on... :D

First of all, I must say as a general comment to everyone -- you MUST buy the MP3 for this show! With a running time of 29:15 (the longest episode so far this season), the over five minutes of deleted scenes add SO MUCH to this program!!

I always LOVE seeing how the Richter family is continuously changing and progressing and consistently the way that Caleb and Carrie connect with one another. Right from the get go, we hear Carrie and Caleb encouraging one another and building each other up, and when one initiates the process, it is always returned by the other, which is priceless in any kind of a friendship or relationship. I have been really impressed how Lori and John continue to model this with them and also John and Mary as we heard in this week's show and last -- way to go!

I'm also really enjoying hearing the bonding of Carrie and Maya. I like how they both have such similar sensitive, compassionate hearts and that they were able to ride together part way through the trip. It was good to see Maya start to show her emotions and open up to show that she is really grieving and has a lot going on in her life. I hope that now with Caleb and Carrie engaged, Maya will take Carrie up on her offer and really confide in her as the Christian sister she has never had. The scene in the retail version with Maya talking to Carrie about the tornado with Tom in the past was really neat to reference that event from S7!!

On the other side of things, we hear Caleb talking to both Maya and Tiffany about Carrie, with Maya apologizing for messing up their weekend even if it wasn't her fault. When I first heard the broadcast version, I was unclear when later Tiffany mentions Caleb being all concerned about his proposal to Carrie, even though they had no way of knowing, but in the retail version, we hear him telling them before hand.

Things were certainly building to when the car broke down! Yes, Renddslow, I believe you are correct about the sound being the as when the washing machine broke down but I believe that was from 2-6, "When Push Comes to Love" around the same time as when Tiffany flooded the room after Maya talking to her about Bible stories. Back to this episode, when I first heard the 'car scenes', I wasn't so sure as some haven't been that great in the past (i.e. S-6 "To Grandmother's House We Go" and 7-9, 7-10 "The Journey" but these were very well written and thoroughly entertaining and captivating. Anyway, I laughed so hard when I heard Tiffany howling along to her music in the backseat!! They were mostly love songs probably thinking about Randy, who we haven't heard from in a few episodes surprisingly! I'm curious in knowing if that was a struggle for her actress (the name has slipped my mind at the moment) to sing off-key and so screechingly like it was for Kelli playing Haley in 2-1 "Pride Comes Before the Fall Festival"! Too funny!

I really enjoyed hearing Caleb's conversations with Monica. I completely agree with what the others have already mentioned here about him really stepping up and becoming the man of the family. As hard as it was for him to talk about respecting her in these chaotic circumstances, he really seemed sincere and was a good example to Maya and Tiffany, especially Tiffany. We respect people based on their position in authority over us, not always based on their actions, unless what they're doing is unbiblical. Monica is really mellowing to being a very gracious lady and it was touching how they both apologized to one another for becoming angry, even though Caleb still seemed he was being reasonable in what he was saying. Continued lessons throughout the episode in taming the tongue, self-control, love and respect. I also agree with what was said here along the lines of I think this was the first time that Monica was witnessed to directly by someone, partly because she wasn't yelling in their face but actually asking Caleb more questions. When she said something like, 'can we finish this later?', she was serious and actually meant it as she brought it up later in the context of Caleb being at peace and not all of that coming from Carrie.

And the proposal...I didn't think it was actually going to happen in this episode! When Caleb got stopped the first time, I thought that his chance was ruined as he kind of let it go once Monica left them alone for a minute. I find it very comical that that has been a recurring theme all season with the two of them -- something is always disturbing their talks when Caleb wants to express his feelings to Carrie. I was so happy it did turn out that way this time though as Caleb was able to talk to Monica about proposing first even though he wasn't expecting that he'd be able to, thus having consent from the parents and both sides of the family, and a lot of marriages would be in a lot better state if that was the case universally I think. The proposal in the garage is one of my favourite scenes in DGL history! Beautifully written, and very warmly and sensitively acted! It was also very significant how you immediately saw the front of the shop owner come down to being a very gracious individual. It is true though that the wedding definitely has to be EXTRAVAGANT since Caleb wasn't able to propose in the Pipers' garden like he was hoping. We also need to hear wedding plans too!! And their continued life in college leading up to the big day!

That could have been a perfect episode right there but the scenes with John, Mary and Will made it even better. I loved seeing more of the developing friendship between the three of them and so respected Will's motivations trying to warn Monica that she was close to an arrest and even made it personally to the garage to tell her. But NOOOO, it was too late and was happening again! I was surprised that Will didn't pipe up since he was the attorney standing right there but I suppose he didn't want to overstep his bounds and get in trouble or something along the lines. I sure hope this doesn't harden Monica's heart again but puts her over the edge into a state of desperation and brokenness realizing she isn't in control and truly crying out to God and giving her life to Christ in jail. I can also just see happening that the Richter family drifts apart without the closeness of Monica to continue to develop these relationships that have never been there before!

PHENOMENAL job, Lori! (Can I double the seven stars that Renddslow used and make it 14 out of five stars, so it becomes double perfect or eternally perfect? :P) Anyway, no real rating I don't think would be fair to put on this program because of the hours of writing in prayer and carefully thinking through each line alone without even considering the huge task of recording/producing this program with true feeling and in way that the listener can relate and appreciate by making it real through the delivery of the lines and the various music scores!! We will always treasure the wholesome and professional programs that DGL has always delivered to us!

I can definitely feel the series steadily wrapping up and I try not to think about it too much as it becomes more and more sad each week. I'm trying to figure out how all the many things that need to be wrapped up are going to be incorporated to where it feels the story is going with more of an emphasis on the Richters and not as much with the Morrisons even though the story started with them. I'm really hoping we hear more from Grace, Jessica and Haley, the Donnors among many others! It is extremely hard to wait from week to week and to put my undivided trust in your hands! :) With episodes of this quality consistently appearing through this season, I know that the cast and crew of DGL have not, aren't and will not disappoint! No pressure... ;)

Re: 12-9 - review it here....

This episode was awesome!! Season 12 has been absolutely fantastic so far!!
Tiffany was so funny and typical Tiffany, only concerned about herself. I too loved the way Caleb and Carrie interact; makes me think that they are going to make a wonderful husband and wife. I also liked the tnteraction between Carrie and Maya.
I am not surprised that Monica is under arrest again and back in jail. I knew that she would get herself there when she left Coleraine. She has a knack for bringing trouble onto herself that's for sure!
Great lesson again too! I know I struggle with letting God have control just like a lot of people. 5/5 stars from me! Awesome job again Lori!

Re: 12-9 - review it here....

great job! I like Calabe and how he's changing soooooh much. I'm listening to season 6 again and it brings me to tears when Calabe acceptedd Christ. I liked how Calabe lost his temper, he is a quiet guy. I think Monica is sofining up to being a christian. I hope Tiffany accepts christ from Randy like Calabe and Anthony. I miss the donners and the Taylors! I want Calabe to meet Grace like Maya did.

Re: 12-9 - review it here....

I liked this episode because I can drive now and this episode had a ton of driving in it.

Monica is like Macbeth. She does something bad and tries to get out of trouble but only gets into deeper trouble than before. Now she's arrested again. It's like Maya's an orphan. If Tiffany took up the Brodsky’s offer and is living with them even though Randy is gone, and Caleb goes back to college who is Maya going to stay with? Hmm, hopefully we find that out really soon. Speaking of Macbeth, it reminded me about the episode “Much ado About Something”. I guess we’ll find out really soon if there is a musical episode like Lori wanted.

So I just saved this, so I don’t lose it all, like I do almost every week, which is why I haven’t always posted reviews. As I was saving it I needed a title to save it by and I looked at the blog site and I was like- 12-9!!!! No! There can’t only be 3 more episodes left!!- It was scary. It was like my life suddenly became a nightmare. It wasn’t a good feeling. I hope Steve is right, and I will be satisfied how it all ends.

Well I’m glad that Caleb finally got to propose to Carrie. It seemed like everything was building up to that, and I really don’t think you’d waste that time building up to something that doesn’t happen. I think that this all has to end with a wedding. It is kind of weird to propose to someone in a garage, but it was so unromantic, that it almost ended up being romantic. It’s weird when Carrie calls Caleb romantic. I never thought of him in that way. It’s nice that now even though Maya doesn’t feel all comfortable with the Morrisons that she can go to Carrie.

Oh yeah, I thought of the funniest thing that happened this episode!!! So there’s that line that Tiffany said about them ‘blowing up’! It made me so happy. I’m the one who predicts explosions, so it made me happy.
*Did you just make up that annoying song Tiffany was singing, because I googled the lyrics and couldn’t find it online?

Cars on DGL never work out well. In the beginning the Morrisons’ car didn’t work and the Haley couldn’t get to the roller-skating party on time, and then the sun-roof on Luke and Becca’s car wasn’t working, when Timmy gets worried about Mr. Key’s car being gone, and then on the trip to Grandma’s the car kept getting ice on the wipers, and now their car almost explodes. When there’s a motor vehicle on DGL nothing’s going to be good.

I want Brooke to marry Luke. It would have made me happier than Caleb marrying Carrie because she’s a Morrison and he’s not. Then Brooke could have moved to Peru, and DGL would have been super exciting because it was in a Spanish country, and then CBH could branch out and make DGL in Spanish. They made Keys for Kids in Spanish, why not DGL too? I think that would have been cool.

*What countries are the ancestors of the Morrison’s from? And the Richter’s too (although we know that according to the Maya in 5th grade her ancestors came on the Mayflower). As far as I know, we never really heard about where they were from.

I don’t know why, but I don’t exactly like Carrie that much. Maybe she’s like Hope. It took a while to get used to her, but I eventually came to like her. Maybe after I re-listen to the episodes with her in them I’ll start to like her a little more.

Oh yeah, another funny thing I just thought of. Tiffany was pretty much dying without her cell phone in this episode, but in the Fall Festival episode Luke was calling it weird to have a cell phone. “You can tell when that episode was written”. Just kidding.

I wouldn’t trust Monica if I were Caleb. I’m on Tiffany’s side here. Monica did seem to be kidnapping them! Monica does need to do the right thing, but obviously she doesn’t know the right thing, since she ended up getting herself arrested.

I’m glad I had no homework today so I actually got to write a review.
Good episode.
4/5

(*’s are for questions I’d like answered, the other ones are rhetorical (haha, I learned the word rhetorical from DGL).

In conclusion, I think that even though it’s sad DGL is ending, this episode was leading to a solid, good ending to DGL, and I know that all the old episodes are amazing and they’re always be great, even though S12 is the end.

Episode S:08a - Spring Broke Pt.1 Listen On-Demand presented by HisKids.net

It’s Spring Break, and the Morrisons are headed to Washington, D.C. They’re all super excited about the things they’ll get to see and do there—all of them, that is, except Brooke. She thinks it’s selfish of them to go on a fun-filled vacation when other people are giving their week to serve on a mission field.

But wait a minute, Brooke. Aren’t we supposed to be missionaries wherever we go?

Brooke had a change of heart when she and her family have a surprising encounter on the plane to D.C.
